Linux Focus Group Leader/Facilitator
Overview
The Linux Focus Group Leader or Facilitator will be responsible for organizing and leading discussions, workshops, and activities related to Linux and open-source technologies. This volunteer will support a community of users ranging from beginners to experienced professionals, helping members learn, troubleshoot, and grow their skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate regular Focus Group meetings, including setting agendas and coordinating speakers or hands-on sessions
- Lead discussions on Linux distributions, tools, administration, and open-source technologies
- Support members with questions, challenges, and practical use cases related to Linux
- Encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration among members with varying experience levels
- Stay current on developments in Linux and open-source ecosystems and share relevant updates
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Linux systems, tools, or environments (any distro).
- Passion for open-source technology and community learning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to guide both technical discussions and beginner-friendly conversations.
- Previous experience leading or facilitating groups is helpful but not required.
Time Commitment
Flexible. The Focus Group Leader or Facilitator can choose a day and time that works best for the group. Meetings may be held in-person, virtually, or in a hybrid format.
Reporting Structure
The Focus Group Leader/Facilitator will report to the Education Director.
