Position Title

Novice / Superhighway SIG Leader/Facilitator

Overview

The Special Interest Group (SIG) Leader or Facilitator for Novice / Superhighway will organize and lead discussions, workshops, and activities focused on technology basics and introductory topics within our organization. This volunteer will be key in supporting and guiding members new to technology or looking to expand their knowledge in this area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate regular SIG meetings, including setting agendas and coordinating speakers or presenters.
  • Engage SIG members in discussions and activities that cover technology basics and introductory topics, such as internet safety, basic computer skills, and using common software applications.
  • Collaborate with other SIG leaders and organizational stakeholders to align SIG activities with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Support and guidance to SIG members new to technology or seeking to expand their knowledge.
  • Stay informed about developments in technology education and resources for beginners.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with technology basics and introductory topics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to facilitate group discussions and activities effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in teaching or mentoring beginners is preferred but not required.

Time Commitment

Flexible. The SIG Leader or Facilitator can choose a meeting day and time that best suits their schedule. The SIG is welcome to meet in-person, virtually, or a hybrid of these two options.

Reporting Structure

The SIG Leader or Facilitator will report to the Educational Services Director.
